C.A.R.S.O. (Centro Addestramento Ricerca Scientifica in Oncologia) is a Consortium formed by the University of Bari and the Apulia Region.

The structure, whose cost of building amounted to 10 billions old liras and that of scientific equipment about 11 billions, was delivered in 1996. It is located on the area of about 5.000 square meters.

President of the Consortium is Prof. Francesco Paolo Schena.

The main purpose of C.A.R.S.O. Consortium is to learn and train young South Italian post-doc, in basic and translational scientific research in biomolecular and oncological field and other diseases. In addition, it promotes and disseminates scientific and technological results obtained in collaboration with other institutions (public and private companies).

The Consortium hold researcher teams of the 3 Apulian Universities (Bari, Foggia and Lecce) and of the following SMEs: Apuliabiotech, BIOCOMLAB, Medestea Research & Production, THD, CERTA, KOS.

The Consortium is allocated in the area where the future District of Life Sciences will rise.
